Chicken Drop in Belize

Wednesday nights host the

big event called the

Chicken Drop at

Pier Lounge.

Tourist and locals gather around starting around 6:00 p.m. to draw numbers. Each number cost $1.00 or $.50 US. You can buy as many numbers as you want. They can have as few as 3 rounds up to 7 or more. Just depends how many folks turn up for this event and play.

What happens is someone out of the crowd volunteers or is chosen to take the chicken out of a basket. He/She must perform a little ritual which means lift the chicken up and to the right, to the left (without getting the chicken dizzy) then last they must blow on the chicken's butt. They say it helps make him poop. The person then puts the chicken in the large cage and hopes that he poops on your number. If he does, the person holding the number wins $100 bez.

Guess what folks...We had a lucky winner. Ginger! As a winner she had the privilege of cleaning the chicken's poop along with winning some beer money. Way to go!
