Guadalajara

Hi...How is everyone doing? We made it to Guadalajara safely on Saturday. We've been busy running around town and getting acclimated to our new surroundings. We checked into a Hostel for this leg of Mexico. I'll have to send you guys some pictures. This place rocks. The place is called Casa VilaSanta. I don't know...My understanding of hostels is not what we are experiencing. Back home, I used think they were dirty, rasta style or backpackers crowd and dorm style layouts. This is our 2nd one to stay at here in Mexico and I'm glad I gave them a chance. We have our own large private room w/full bath, daily maid service, clean sheets and towels, a huge kitchen to cook in and fantastic living room area w/a outdoor patio not to mention wireless internet and cable TV in our rooms. I would say the average age staying in this hostel is 35 and everyone is really nice. We are in "Centro" location so we can walk to tons of shopping, restaurants, and parks. Now, I'm not too impressed with this city. It's the 2nd largest city in Mexico w/the population of 5 Million. As most major cities it's dirty with lots of "tagging/graffiti" everywhere but there's lots to see. Today, we toured the Jose Cuervo plant which is in a small town called Tequila (about an hour out of town). They have a beautiful compound. I'll have to post those pictures a little later too. We really enjoyed it not to mention all the samples we were able to consume. We plan to hit the zoo some time this week too. Other than that...we're still trying to research everything the area. The bus system is lot more complicated plus an underground subway we're trying to figure out. Other than that...Life is good! Just wanted to touch base and tell ya we miss you. Hugs - Bonnie & Bob
